Toronto, ON - GFL Environmental Buys Turtle Island Recycling

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Two of Southern Ontario's leading waste management companies are making industry history today:

Green for Life (GFL) Environmental Corp. and Turtle Island Recycling (TIR) Corp. have just joined forces, transforming GFL into southern Ontario's largest waste management company.

GFL, already one of Canada's fastest growing full-service waste management companies, announced today that it has officially bought TIR, one of Southern Ontario's largest recycling and waste management companies.

The deal means that - now with 10 transfer and Recycling stations, a soil remediation facility, 3 liquid waste storage and treatment facilities - GFL has essentially created the largest One-Stop Shop for waste management and recycling services in Southern Ontario, processing over 2million tonnes of soil, solid waste and recyclables each year.

GFL now employs more than 1,000 people and services more than 10,000 commercial customers and one million households, across Ontario and Canada. This includes the recent awarded contract to supply residential waste collection to the City of Toronto's District 2 which covers the west end commencing August 2012.

GFL's President, Founder, and CEO, Patrick Dovigi says, "This deal doesn't just mean we're now Southern Ontario's largest waste management company - it also means we can offer our customers more services in more locations than ever before. We're quite pleased to be welcoming TIR's seasoned professionals into the GFL group of companies."

"Joining the GFL team means we can now offer even more convenience, more savings, and more service solutions than any other company in the waste management industry," says TIR CEO and Co-founder, Louis Anagnostakos.

GFL, headquartered in Pickering, ON, operates from 25 locations serving both residential and commercial customers in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia.
