Turtle Island Recycling worked with HBC and Ivanhoe Cambridge to create Canada’s first zero waste program in a multi-tenant office building. Turtle Island Recycling expanded the scope of the recycling program to include additional items generated at the facility and also provided extensive education for tenants and staff.
The Group of Twenty (G20) summit that was held in Toronto this past weekend (June 26 & 27, 2010) at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre was serviced by Turtle Island Recycling as a “Zero Waste” event.
The green bin and waste contract with Turtle Island Recycling and Waste saved the northern six municipalities in York Region more than $300,000 in the first year of a 10-year deal.

On June 25th Bell Trinity Square was awarded LEED EB Gold Certification making it the first office building in Toronto with this qualification. The award is recognition of the high level of environmental responsibility exemplified in areas such as energy use, recycling, water and air quality as well as management systems and procedures.

Turtle Island Recycling is proud to announce its partnership with G4G Resources Ltd and their subsidiary Alternative Fuels Corporation. Turtle Island will be providing AFC with recycling residuals, i.e. the plastic and paper materials that we are unable to recycle through traditional means, to be converted into fuels, such as clean diesel.
