Primary and finished form packaging wastes are materials that have historically posed a waste disposal nightmare for many companies. Turtle Island, in partnership with its customers, has researched ways to reduce, reuse and recycle the amount of materials destined for landfill. Included in this category are the following:

Effective recycling does not stop with the recovery of paper, bottles, cans and cardboard. Many businesses such as restaurants, hotels and convention centres often overlook an easy to recover item - food waste. Turtle Island processes and handles over 100,000 lbs. of organic waste per day. This waste can be rendered into usable food and/or/fertilizer with minimal effort. Close relations with local end markets (local farmers and feed processors) make it possible to further reduce the amount of waste organic materials previously destined for landfill. Any remaining plastic/paper packaging is balled/ground and recycled as per the normal channels.
